Every other SS bar should not waste a skill slot on it, and bring other skills that do more. SS is on a 10s recharge, with a 40/40 set, you don't need to burn even more energy just to cast it faster. You should be putting useful things on the rest of your bar - the use of a SS necro is combined defense/offense from hex pressure.

And yeah, obviously you would take out desc/defile.

The faster you kill an enemy the easier on your defense.

Also, just about every high-level PvE SS necromancer build uses Arcane Echo. Even those that require many tools, such as the Deep steel-wall build. This is because Arcane Echo is a tool in itself to reapply numerous hexes for various reasons, and to recast other spells.

One excellent reason for the poor-man's SS build, which we are aiming at here, to bring Arcane Echo is for burning Auspicious on the echoed version.

And, I don't know how to put this clearly enough, a double HCT/HSR set is not a substitute for Arcane Echo.

To summarize, the change you suggested would create a slow, cumbersome build with little utility, and I felt neither of the posted suggestions were very good, which is what I was responding to.

ouch, that's - 110 HP.
Run a 40/40 set in HM and you are dead before you blink.
No superiors nor major for me if not for Signet of Illusions.

btw this looks like necro thread ... why is everyone so obsessed with SS here? (I was wondering about it already when the op asked about it...)
